Silver is a soft, white, lustrous transition metalchemical element with symbol Ag (from the Latin argentum, derived from the Greek ἀργός which means “shiny” or “white”).
Literally and metaphorically silver has long been valued as a precious metal. People in the old days used silver spoons to feed babies. The main reason was because silver has toxic effects on bacteria without the harmful effects of other metals, such as mercury, so that meant that babies who had silver spoons were in better health. In present days a silver spoon is given as a gift on the birth of a baby so that it has good health.
Silver has various uses such as in currency (coins), solar panels, water filtration, ornaments, high-value tableware and utensils (hence the term silverware) and of course jewellery. Silver jewellery in our days can be found has a wide range and wearability. You can wear a simple silver jewel in your everyday life or a more extravagant piece on special occasions, or even have a jewel that is very artistic.
